Four Champions League Coaches Played in Same Cup-Winning Barcelona XI in 1996

The Spanish Super Cup of 1996 might seem like a fairly inconsequential event, but it turns out a
number of significant coaches were together that day.

Five of the coaches of the eight teams left in the Champions League this season were involved in the fixture on 28 August 1996, with all four managers in action on Tuesday night on the Barcelona team.

Goalkeeper Julen Lopetegui is now at Porto, where he has the edge over Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich after the first leg. 

In the other game, Luis Enrique, now the Barcelona manager, pits his wits against Laurent Blanc, the PSG coach.

On the opposition, there was Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone, meaning only Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus and AS Monaco's Leonardo Jardim weren't there on that night.

Atletico won the game 3-1 but lost the two-legged event after a 5-2 defeat in the first game.
